The history

Originally the buildings were parts of an old “craft dealer yard” from 1840. In 1895 Asp Geertsen transferred the deeds of the house to the limited company Løkken Seaside Hotel.

From July 1895 Løkken Seaside Hotel turned to be a wonderful seaside hotel and on May 17.th “Vendsyssel Tidende (newspaper) brought a comprehensive article about the Seaside Hotel, the 4 buildings, the bath attendant and the committee. A quote from this article says, the whole establishment occupies a unit of 1.36 acres and consists of 4 building lengths.

Building no. 1 with a big attic and a facing the market contains a roomy dining room, mounted with modern demands, 2 roomy reading rooms with tables, sofas, fortepiano etc. and 2 guest rooms. The rest of the building is consisting of guest rooms, cuisines and pantries. Especially from the attic there is a beautiful view of the western part of the city with sand dunes and a pavilion in the background.

Building no. 2 turns east and west and a long corridor leads to the 15 guest rooms – all roomy and light. Outside the building there is a very beautiful garden.

Building no. 3 is the residence of the landlord and the staff. This building is surrounded by a great park.

Building no. 4 has a great hall and a garden room separated by a light partition and outside you will find a great veranda.  In front of the garden there is a big playing field. The whole establishment is carried out in a fantastic way creditable to both the bathing attendant and the committee. This special place has rightly become very popular.

The company owned the seaside hotel for 10 years and it was run by the several hosts and hostesses.

In 1905 Carl Elijah Christensen purchased the seaside hotel for 11.000 dkk. Furthermore he owned the inn “Klitbakken” and this was the momentum of tourism in Løkken.
In 1910 Ms. Inger Søndergaard, Aalborg took over the Hotel with fixtures including kitchens, stoves, shelves, sterns and all other services, furniture, etc.

In 1915 a site was bought for the seaside hotel.

In 1924 Inger Søndergaard sold the hotel to wreck master Marinus Svendsen, the price was 50.000 dkk.

Marinus Svendsen had the hotel for 17 years and in 1941 it was sold to fish exporter P. B. Kjeldgaard and Ms. Anna Christensen for 100.000 dkk.

When Kjeldgaard died in 1960 his part was transferred Ms. Josephine Ida Kirstine Kjeldgaard. The son Knud Brix Kjeldgaard, Søren Jensen and the Svend Nielsen took over the hotel at her death for  200.000 dkk.

Fritjof Andersen was employed as manager of the Seaside hotel until 1973.

Then the sheet was transferred to teacher Kaj Leth, who leased the hotel out to restaurant keeper Henning Nørgaard. After that Leth led the seaside hotel himself until Løkken Seaside Hotel was incorporated again to Benny Frandsen, Morten Mortensen, Bo Kristensen and Myrna Jørgensen.

Afterwards Løkken Seaside Hotel has gone through a comprehensive restoration and the modernization. Løkken Seaside Hotel has afterwards been sold on timeshare basis. In 1991 it was changed into joint condos.

Today Henning Lyng is the manager of Løkken Seaside Hotel.
